Some 450 new Covid-19 cases and one new death attributed to Covid-19 have been reported nationwide over the previous 24 hours, bringing the total to 138,007 including 584 deaths and 3,854 active cases.
Of the new infections, detected among 3,312 people tested for Covid-19, 443 were classified as domestic infections and seven as imported cases.
The local infections included 94 cases in Huaphan, 67 in Vientiane, 54 in Attapeu, 36 in Xieng Khuang and 32 in Savannakhet.
Some 133 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals nationwide yesterday, according to the Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Sisavath Soutthanilaxay.
Over 4.7 million people, representing 65.27% of population in the country, have been vaccinated with at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, according to the Centre of Information and Education for Health, Ministry of Health. Meanwhile, 4.1 million people, representing 57.04% of population, have been given all recommended doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
