Attapeu: The agreement was signed on May 27 between the Attapeu Provincial Investment Promotion and Management Committee and Sengphatthana Mining-Agriculture and Comprehensive Construction Sole Co., Ltd.
According to Lao News Agency, the proposed project will be located in Ban Samongmaipindong and Ban Hinlat in Sanamxay District and will cover a total area of 22 hectares. Provincial officials stated that the agreement marks the sixth cooperation project between the provincial investment authorities and private companies aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural development in the province.
The initiative is expected to support socio-economic development, create jobs for local residents, and contribute to the restoration of degraded forest areas by transforming them into productive agricultural land. Authorities mentioned that the project would encourage the cultivation of economically valuable chemical-free crops, including durian, while reducing dependence on imported fertilizers and minimizing the use of chemical fertilizers through a shift toward organic alternatives.
If feasibility studies confirm the project’s viability, the fertilizer plant could eventually supply products to other provinces and export markets while helping Attapeu achieve greater agricultural self-sufficiency. Officials added that the project is expected to strengthen sustainable and modern commercial agriculture in Sanamxay District and support long-term economic growth in Attapeu Province.
