Kunming: The China-Laos Railway international passenger service has successfully handled over 800,000 cross-border passenger trips since its inception three years ago, as announced by China Railway Kunming Group. This milestone underscores the railway’s growing significance in regional travel between China and Laos.
According to Lao News Agency, the service has completed over 3,190 trips, accommodating travelers from more than 120 countries and regions. The railway connects major destinations including Kunming, Xishuangbanna, Luang Prabang, and Vientiane, linking over 560 tourist attractions. Dubbed a “golden route” for its scenic and strategic importance, the service has rapidly become a preferred choice for international travelers since its launch on April 13, 2023.
Currently, the railway operates four international passenger trains daily between Kunming and Vientiane. Each train is equipped with 420 cross-border seats, offering a journey time of approximately 9 hours and 36 minutes from Kunming South Railway Station to the Lao capital. The continued success of the China-Laos Railway highlights its pivotal role in enhancing connectivity and tourism between the two nations.
