KPL/Yonhap: China's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dai Bing, has been nominated as the country's new ambassador to South Korea, diplomatic sources revealed Wednesday. According to Lao News Agency, Beijing is in the final stages of reviewing Dai Bing's nomination for the ambassadorial position, with an official announcement anticipated as early as this week. Following the announcement, there will be a procedure to seek consent, known as "agrement," from South Korea. The ambassadorial post has been vacant since the departure of former Chinese Ambassador to South Korea, Xing Haiming, in July. Dai, 57, has a long-standing career in diplomatic service, beginning in 1995. Over the years, he has held several positions at Chinese embassies, including those in Singapore and the Republic of South Africa. Since 2020, Dai has been serving as China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations.
