Kunming: Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, accompanied by his spouse and delegation, arrived this morning at Kunming Changshui International Airport, Yunnan, China, where he was warmly welcomed by Liu Hongjian, Secretary of Kunming Municipal Party Committee, along with representatives from the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, the Lao Embassy in China, the Lao Consulate General in Kunming, and other relevant parties.
According to Lao News Agency, the visit to China, at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, aims to participate in the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit, the 11th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) Summit, and to chair the 10th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, held in Kunming from November 6-7, 2024.
Following the summit, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone will extend his visit to Zhejiang and Shanghai from November 8-10, 2024. This part of the itinerary includes engagements with several Chinese companies that are operating major inves
tment projects in the Lao PDR, which play a significant role in driving China’s economic initiatives.
