Covid-19 vaccination reaches 4.7 million people

As of Feb 10, over 4.7 million people, representing 65.27% of population in the country, have been vaccinated with at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, according to the Centre of Information and Education for Health, Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, 4.1 million people, accounting for 57.04% of the population, have been administered with all recommended doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Some 424 new Covid-19 cases and four new deaths attributed to Covid-19 have been reported nationwide over the previous 24 hours, bringing the total to 138,431 including 588 deaths and 3,853 active cases.

Of the new infections, 416 cases were classified as domestic infections and eight as imported cases.

The local infections included 87 cases in Vientiane, 75 in Xieng Khuang, 41 in Xayaboury, 38 in Attapeu, 33 in Huaphan and 27 in Savannakhet.

Some 197 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals nationwide yesterday, according to the Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Rattanaxay Phetsouvanh.
