Mexico City: Cuban Minister of Culture Alpidio Alonso and his Mexican counterpart, Claudia Curiel, expressed their willingness to strengthen cultural exchanges during a meeting in Mexico City. Alonso highlighted the potential to enhance and diversify exchanges, aiming to elevate cultural relations to match the level of political relations.
According to Lao News Agency, Alexis Triana, president of the Cuban Film Institute, shared insights from the meeting. Emphasis was placed on academic exchanges, organizing film screenings in both Cuba and Mexico, and mutual support for the restoration of cinematographic heritage. The discussions also explored possible avenues for co-productions.
The Minister noted that film and music are key areas for strengthening ties between the two nations, alongside academic exchanges in artistic education. Alonso underscored the importance of artistic delegations participating in festivals and events organized by both countries, with the possibility of these presentations circulating through various circuits and institutional spaces, directly impacting communities.
The Minister of Culture and the Cuban delegation visited the Churubusco Film Studios, the National Arts Center, and the Benny Mor© Cultural Center. The latter is considered a prime example of the cultural ties between the two nations and a testament to the brotherhood between Cuba and Mexico.
On Monday, the Minister met at the Embassy with politicians, artists, Cubans residing in Mexico, members of the solidarity movement, and other friends.
