Vientiane: The Standing Committee of the National Assembly has sanctioned the transfer of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Chansamone Chanyalath, to the Prime Minister’s Office. In his new role, he will maintain his position as Deputy Prime Minister.
According to Lao News Agency, this decision was disclosed during the 8th Ordinary Session of the 9th National Assembly on November 27. The announcement was made by National Assembly Vice President Sounthone Sayachak, following the proposal by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on November 12, 2024. The proposal received approval from the Standing Committee during its Extraordinary Session on November 25.
The reshuffle has been formally approved by the Standing Committee to ensure it aligns with the recommendations of the Prime Minister. This move reflects a strategic alignment within the government.
In addition to the transfer, the National Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Lt. Gen. Khamlieng Outhakaysone as the new Minister of Defence, su
cceeding Gen. Chansamone Chanyalath.
