Huaphanh Province Rings in 2025 with Grand Cultural Celebration


HUAPHANH: Huaphanh Province ushered in the new year with an elaborate celebration at the Huaphanh-Thanh Hua Park on December 31, 2024. The event marked the transition to 2025 through a blend of cultural tradition and modern entertainment, drawing a large audience including local and international dignitaries.



According to Lao News Agency, the celebration was attended by a host of notable figures such as Governor Khampheng Xaysompheng, provincial leaders, retired senior officials, former provincial leaders, department heads, and representatives from local and international businesses. The event highlighted the importance of preserving Lao culture with performances that included traditional music and dance, as well as artistic displays and a fusion of Lao and international music.



A central feature of the celebration was the Lamvong Lao, a traditional dance that was recently added to UNESCO’s World Heritage list, reflecting the nation’s rich cultural heritage. The event also included performances by literary and arts groups, and students from the province, along with a fashion show that showcased the distinct styles of Huaphanh’s nine ethnic groups.



Governor Khampheng took the opportunity to extend New Year greetings to the provincial party committee, retired leaders, department heads, and both domestic and international business representatives. He wished the people of Huaphanh health, happiness, and prosperity and encouraged them to continue contributing to the province’s development, inspiring collective progress in the year ahead.



The celebration highlighted Huaphanh’s dedication to cultural preservation and community unity as it looks forward to the opportunities of 2025.
