Justice Minister Welcomes Malaysian Deputy Law Minister, Strengthens Legal Cooperation


Vientiane: Mr. Phayvy Siboualipha, the Minister of Justice of Laos, welcomed Mr. Kula Segaran, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister for Law and Institutional Reform, to Vientiane. This meeting took place on April 21, 2025, during an official visit aimed at enhancing bilateral legal cooperation.



According to Lao News Agency, Minister Siboualipha extended his congratulations on Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship, which operates under the theme “Inclusive and Sustainable ASEAN: Demonstrating Unity for Regional Resilience.” He reaffirmed Laos’ commitment to supporting Malaysia’s priorities, particularly in enhancing regional legal frameworks and sustainable justice initiatives.



The Lao Justice Minister emphasized his ministry’s key functions, focusing on the Economic Dispute Resolution Center’s increasing role in commercial arbitration. This highlights Laos’ efforts to strengthen its legal infrastructure and improve dispute resolution mechanisms.



In response, Deputy Minister Segaran invited the Lao minister to participate in the upcoming 2025 ASEAN Law Ministers Meeting. Additionally, he extended an invitation for Laos to endorse the Joint Declaration on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) development, further solidifying the cooperative efforts between the two nations.
