Kim Jong Un Provides Field Guidance on Onpho Holiday Camp Construction


Pyongyang: Kim Jong Un, the general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, conducted field guidance over the ongoing construction project of the Onpho Working People’s Holiday Camp. This project falls under the Recreation Management Bureau of the Ministry of Labour.



According to Lao News Agency, Kim Jong Un was accompanied by Ri Hi Yong and Kim Jae Ryong, leading officials from the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK). Upon arrival, he was welcomed by the chief secretary of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, the chairman of the provincial people’s committee, and officials from the construction field command team.



The Onpho Holiday Camp project is aimed at developing a recreation and recuperation center in Kyongsong County, a renowned hot-spring region. This initiative aligns with the instructions Kim Jong Un provided during his field visit to North Hamgyong Province in July 2018. At that time, he emphasized the importance of transforming the area into a comprehensive cultural, recreation, and medical service hub, enabling the public to benefit from hot-spring therapy and engage in leisure activities.



During his visit, Kim Jong Un engaged with senior cadres and working-level officials at the construction site to assess the progress. He highlighted the necessity of completing the construction and operational preparations without any defects, ensuring the facility becomes a distinctive cultural and recreational base. He also addressed existing deviations in the project and proposed measures to resolve them.



Kim Jong Un underscored the importance of meeting functional requirements for recreation and recuperation, maximizing the building area’s usage, and ensuring visitor convenience. He stressed the need to address detailed issues to prevent any inconvenience to visitors, given the project’s final stage. He laid out crucial tasks for the construction and future management of the holiday camp, focusing on improving service conditions and treatment environments to enhance hot-spring therapy’s contribution to public health and enjoyment.



He further discussed expanding cultural life by utilizing the area’s natural features and preparing for simultaneous operation upon project completion. Kim Jong Un emphasized the importance of people-oriented policies and the responsibility to provide excellent treatment and recuperation facilities, reinforcing the mission of serving the people innovatively.



Kim Jong Un expressed the Party’s intention to build modern holiday resorts in scenic locations, offering comprehensive service facilities to promote public health and cultural progress. He noted that the completion of the Onpho Holiday Camp as a cultural and health service center would be a significant achievement, aligning with the 80th founding anniversary of the WPK.



Additionally, he highlighted tasks related to the construction of the Yombunjin Haeyang Hostel in North Hamgyong Province. Kim Jong Un approved detailed plans and proposals for completing the Onpho Holiday Camp and Yombunjin Haeyang Hostel, including budget and workforce adjustments, and assigned tasks for their implementation.
