Vientiane: Accompanied by a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Maithong signed the official book of condolences on behalf of the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic following the passing of the former Timorese leader on June 21.
According to Lao News Agency, in his message, the Deputy Foreign Minister expressed profound sorrow over the death of Mr. Francisco Guterres Lº Olo and conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Government and people of Laos. He also extended his personal sympathies to the Government and people of Timor-Leste during this period of national mourning.
Mr. Maithong further offered sincere condolences to the late former President's family, relatives, and friends, acknowledging their loss and expressing solidarity with them in their grief.
The tribute reflected the longstanding friendship and cordial relations between Laos and Timor-Leste and underscored the Lao government's respect for the late leader's contributions to his country and its people.
