Lao Leaders Extend Congratulations on Japanese Emperor’s Birthday


Vientiane: On February 23, President Thongloun Sisoulith sent a congratulatory message to His Majesty Emperor Naruhito of Japan on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of His Majesty’s birthday and Japan’s National Day.



According to Lao News Agency, the message conveyed warm congratulations and best wishes from the Lao people and President Thongloun Sisoulith to the Emperor and the people of Japan. The message highlighted the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Laos and Japan, noting the continual strengthening and deepening of relations over the years.



The communiqu© also remarked on the upcoming celebrations in 2025, marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 60th anniversary of Japanese volunteers working in Laos. These milestones were emphasized as significant occasions that have led to the elevation of their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which is seen as a solid foundation for further cooperation.



President Thongloun expressed his wishes for good health, happiness, and longevity to the Emperor, the Empress, and the Imperial family. He also wished for continued happiness and prosperity for the Japanese people under the Emperor’s care.



On the same day, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone sent a congratulatory message to Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru. Additionally, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane extended congratulations to his Japanese counterpart, Mr. Takeshi Iwaya.
