Vientiane: Party and state leaders, led by President Thongloun Sisoulith, gathered today to lay wreaths at the Monument of Unknown Soldiers (Red Star) and place floral baskets at the Kaysone Phomvihane Museum in celebration of the 49th anniversary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR).
According to Lao News Agency, Vice President Bounthong Chithmany, National Assembly President Saysomphone Phomvihane, and Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone were also present during the commemorative activities. The events coincided with the 104th birth anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane, a pivotal figure in Laos’s history.
The laying of wreaths and floral baskets served as a symbol of profound respect, gratitude, and reverence for the Lao revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives for the national revolutionary cause. These heroes, under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, secured victory, declared independence, and established the Lao People’s Democratic Republic on December 2, 1975.
