Laos and Australia Pledge to Strengthen Human Resource Development Efforts

Vientiane: Ambassador Jones congratulated the Lao official on her re-appointment and thanked her for her leadership and efforts to champion practical and people-focused cooperation between Laos and Australia. Ambassador Jones shared that Australia's recently released national budget demonstrated continued commitment to supporting a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific and Australia's intent to remain a reliable partner to Laos and to the ASEAN region in an evolving global environment.

According to Lao News Agency, Ms. Sisay welcomed Australia's commitment to human resource development in Laos through the Laos Australia Institute. This commitment responds to Laos' efforts to develop a highly skilled workforce in government, private sector, and communities across Laos, capable of leading modernization efforts and implementing long-term national development goals.

The Ambassador and Ms. Sisay noted the strong contribution of Lao alumni who contribute the skills obtained through high-quality Australian training and development opportunities to the advancement of Laos. They commended the deep value the people-to-people links that education and training exchanges offer to both countries.

They agreed to explore more opportunities to partner in human resource development for the benefit of both countries and the broader region.
