Laos and Cambodia Forge Stronger Trade Ties


Vientiane: The 2nd Meeting of the Laos-Cambodia Joint Trade Committee (JTC) was held on January 28 in Vientiane, co-chaired by Minister of Industry and Commerce Malaythong Kommasith and Cambodian Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul. The meeting was attended by relevant officials from both countries.



According to Lao News Agency, the meeting reviewed the implementation of agreements from the first JTC meeting and discussed future trade cooperation. Officials from both sides reached agreements on key areas, including development, trade promotion, and efforts to increase bilateral trade by 2030.



The discussions also covered free trade area cooperation, border market development, agreements on border trade and transnational goods, and the establishment of cooperation mechanisms. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic and trade ties, addressing challenges, and creating opportunities for deeper collaboration.
