Vientiane: The initiative marks a critical milestone under the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) 2026-2030, which identifies the development of the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) as a core priority to establish a unified regional electricity market.
According to Lao News Agency, this essential initiative aims to translate the regional cooperation framework into concrete project implementation. By focusing on cross-border power transmission system integration between the Lao PDR and Cambodia, the project will increase capacity for clean energy exchange between the two nations and optimise energy resource management efficiently for Lao PDR.
The project will enable €š¬°lectricit© du Laos (EDL) to formulate a comprehensive cross-border integration strategy that aligns with international technical standards and legal frameworks. The high-priority study project is backed by financial and technical support from the World Bank.
