Vientiane: Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam on August 19-20 received delegations from Lao central agencies and local authorities who came to extend congratulations on Vietnam’s 80th National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025).
According to Lao News Agency, Tam emphasized the historic solidarity between the people of Vietnam and Laos during their struggles for national liberation. This unique relationship, characterized by an exceptionally close fighting solidarity, is considered a rare bond in world history and has become an invaluable asset for the survival and development of both nations.
The Lao representatives commended Vietnam for its significant achievements over the past eight decades, highlighting the country’s transformation since the introduction of the Doi Moi (renewal) policy in 1986. From a nation devastated by war and poverty, Vietnam has emerged as the world’s 33rd largest economy and one of the fastest-growing countries globally. The nation’s increasing integration into the international community has facilitated trade and investment, improved living standards, and reinforced Vietnam’s growing influence on the world stage.
As a steadfast ally sharing the same revolutionary ideals, the Lao Party, State, and people express their pride in Vietnam’s accomplishments. These achievements are a source of shared pride and serve as a significant encouragement and driving force for the Lao people in their own nation-building and development efforts.
The Vietnamese ambassador reiterated the enduring friendship between the two nations, marked by shared hardships and successes. This loyal bond continues to be nurtured and is expected to strengthen further in the future.
