Laos-China Railway Boosts Regional Economic Growth.

Vientiane: The Laos-China Railway has become a key driver of regional economic development, China’s railway operator announced Tuesday. Since its launch on December 3, 2021, the 1,035-km railway has provided safe and sustainable transport, handling over 43 million passenger trips and 48.3 million tonnes of cargo as of Monday.

According to Lao News Agency, the railway serves as a flagship project of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, establishing a vital link between Kunming, China, and the Laotian capital, Vientiane. This connection has significantly contributed to regional trade and economic growth, facilitating not only passenger travel but also bolstering cargo transport across the region.
