Some 224 new daily cases of Covid-19 infection and two new deaths attributed to Covid-19 have been reported over the past 24 hours with the total reaching 143,710 including 1,826 active cases and 628 deaths.
Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health Dr. Sisavath Soutthanilaxay told a press conference on Friday that the new confirmed cases included 193 domestic infections and 31 imported cases.
The local transmissions were detected in Vientiane with 86, Xieng Khuang 19, Savannakhet 14 and Huaphan 12. Meanwhile, Vientiane (province) and Saravan reported nine cases each as Xayaboury and Champassak documented eight cases each.
Some 55 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals nationwide yesterday.
Over 5 million people, equivalent to 68.62% of population in the country, have been vaccinated with at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine with over 4.36 million people, equivalent to 59.24% of the population, given all recommended doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Meanwhile, 12.7% of population in the country have been given a booster dose as the vaccination of children aged 6-11 given with at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine has reached 14.3% of population in the country.
