Kuala Lumpur: Over 134,500 individuals in Malaysia have been forced to evacuate their homes due to severe flooding, with many seeking refuge in 613 evacuation shelters. The recent floods have tragically resulted in the loss of six lives, as reported by the Malaysian Department of Social Welfare.
According to Lao News Agency, the states of Kelantan and Terengganu, situated along Malaysia’s eastern coastline, have been the most severely affected. In response to the disaster, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced that the Government will allocate additional funds to enhance recovery efforts. These efforts are slated to commence in mid-December.
Additionally, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is assessing the situation to provide appropriate support to the affected farmers. This support may include financial aid and measures to facilitate recovery from the flood’s impact.
