President Leads Tribute to Souphanouvong on 117th Birth Anniversary

Vientiane: President Thongloun Sisoulith led senior Party and State leaders in paying tribute to President Souphanouvong on Monday, marking the 117th anniversary of his birth. President Thongloun, who is also General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, joined Bounleuam Manivong, Provincial Party Secretary and President of the Luang Prabang Provincial People's Council, along with provincial leaders, in laying flower baskets at the late President's statue in Luang Prabang. According to Lao News Agency, the ceremony honored the enduring legacy and contributions of President Souphanouvong, who devoted his life to the struggle for national independence and the revolutionary cause of the Lao people. President Souphanouvong is remembered as one of the founding leaders of the Lao revolution, playing a pivotal role alongside the Party and the Lao Patriotic Front in the national liberation movement and the establishment of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. His leadership also contr ibuted significantly to safeguarding the country's revolutionary achievements and promoting national unity. Souphanouvong was widely respected as a patriotic statesman, intellectual and revolutionary leader, dedicating his life to serving the nation and improving the well-being of the Lao people. Born on July 13, 1909, in Luang Prabang, he was the son of Chao Maha Oupalat Bounkhong and Mom Kham-ouan. His lifelong commitment to national independence and development continues to be commemorated throughout Laos.
