Provinces Neglect to Enforce Fines on Mining Companies for Violations

Vientiane:Three provinces have not imposed fines amounting to LAK 3.77 billion on mining companies that violated regulations, including operating without valid exploitation licenses.

According to Lao News Agency, the State Audit Organization (SAO) revealed these findings during the 2025 audit, which was presented by SAO President Viengthavisone Thephachanh at the Second Ordinary Session of the 10th National Assembly on October 8.

The audit highlighted that Vientiane Province, Bolikhamxay, and Khammouane were the regions that failed to enforce the fines. The violations identified included operating with expired licenses, lacking exploitation licenses altogether, and not depositing required mine closure guarantee funds, all under the scope of Prime Ministerial Order No. 373/PM.
