Last week, President of the Lao Red Cross Society Phouthone Meuangpak handed over relief items, worth more than 84 million kip (approximately US$ 8,792), to Deputy Governor of Xayabury Province Phetphixay Sounvilay to help flood victims in the province.
The relief aid, including milled rice, canned fish, drinking water, household utensils, and medicines, had been donated by the Republic of Korea National Red Cross (Korean Red Cross), Thai Red Cross Society, the Prudential Assurance Company and the Lao Huamchay Phatthana Foundation.
Between June 13 and 14, torrential rain caused severe floods in nine villages in Xayaboury district, the same name province.
Up to 1,000 families have been affected by the natural disaster.
