Moscow: Russia and Laos are strengthening their bilateral relationship based on friendship, mutual respect, and trust, as highlighted by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith. Their meeting, reported by a TASS correspondent, underscores the positive developments in their diplomatic relationship.
According to Lao News Agency, President Putin emphasized the foundation of the Russia-Laos relationship, which celebrated its 65th anniversary last year. He noted the positive momentum in bilateral trade, with trade volume doubling by the end of last year compared to 2024. Although the total trade volumes remain modest, the growth trajectory is promising.
President Putin expressed his pleasure in welcoming President Sisoulith to Moscow, highlighting the tradition of their meetings. He recalled that this was the second time President Sisoulith participated in the Victory Day celebrations in Moscow, and he also remembered the official visit paid by the Lao President to Russia last July.
