Savannakhet Province Issues Urgent Guidelines for Lao New Year 2026 Celebrations


Savannakhet: Authorities in Savannakhet Province have issued an urgent notice outlining strict guidelines for the upcoming Lao New Year (B.E. 2569 / 2026), calling for celebrations that are culturally meaningful, orderly, and financially responsible.



According to Lao News Agency, the directive was released on April 2 by the Provincial Administration Office. It emphasizes the importance of preserving Laos’ traditional values while ensuring public security, social order, and environmental cleanliness throughout the holiday period.



Officials noted that this year’s celebrations would also align with the commemoration of three significant historical milestones of the Party. The aim is to create a joyful yet disciplined atmosphere across the province, reflecting on both cultural pride and historical achievements.



Under the new guidelines, government agencies and state organizations have been instructed to avoid extravagant events or unnecessary spending of public funds. Instead, they are encouraged to focus on activities that highlight traditional customs, showcasing Lao cultural identity and heritage.



Authorities further stressed that all celebrations must be well-organized, safe, and respectful, with strict attention to maintaining peace and public order. The notice calls on all sectors and residents to fully comply with these directives to ensure the New Year festivities are both festive and responsible.
