Seoul: SK Telecom Co.’s planned artificial intelligence (AI) assistant service for global users, named ‘aster’, is anticipated to include connections to widely-used online applications, such as Google Calendar.
According to Lao News Agency, aster is designed to support users in creating to-do lists and making reservations for transportation and accommodations by leveraging their schedules on Google Calendar.
Aster is being developed as an advanced AI agent aimed at helping users organize their daily activities through features like planning, execution, reminders, and advice. It is expected to be officially launched in North America in the latter half of the year, following the commencement of a beta service in March. The AI assistant will operate autonomously as an “agentic AI,” capable of making complex decisions and taking actions through conversational interactions with its users.
SK Telecom is also exploring the integration of aster with other popular online services, including the business review platform Yelp and taxi-hailing services like Uber and Lyft. In addition, the company is working on incorporating the AI search engine Perplexity into aster to enhance its functionalities.
An SK Telecom official stated, “We will decide what kind of application programming interface to adopt for our actual service after receiving consumer feedback from our beta service for North American users in March.”
