Trump Reaches Out to Zelensky and NATO Leaders Post-Alaska Summit with Putin

Manila: US President Donald Trump called Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and NATO leaders after his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, as confirmed by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. The calls were made during Trump’s flight back to Washington, though specific details of these conversations remain undisclosed.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Trump conducted a “lengthy call” with Zelensky and also communicated with NATO counterparts. However, the exact content of these discussions was not provided. In an interview with Fox News, Trump highlighted that several aspects of a potential agreement on Ukraine have been settled and advised Kiev to accept the deal.

The summit between Russia and the US took place on August 15 at a military base in Alaska and lasted over three hours. The discussions were held in multiple formats, including a private meeting between Trump and Putin in the American leader’s limousine and a small group discussion involving key delegates from both nations.

The Russian delegation was composed of Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, while the US was represented by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff. During the post-summit press briefing, Putin stated that the Ukrainian conflict was the primary focus of the discussions. He also urged for a renewed bilateral relationship and invited Trump to Moscow.

President Trump acknowledged the progress made during the talks but noted that not all issues were resolved. The summit marks a significant diplomatic engagement between the two nations, with ongoing dialogues expected to continue in the pursuit of a comprehensive agreement.
