Vientiane: In a strategic move to address the growing traffic congestion, the Don Noun intersection along Kaysone Phomvihane Road will be closed starting May 1, 2026. According to Notice No. 3641/DPWT.VTE, this decision comes as a response to the increasing traffic pressure that the four-way junction has been experiencing in recent years.
According to Lao News Agency, the new traffic arrangement will require drivers approaching from different directions to modify their routes. Those traveling from SEA Games Village Road and Nong Viengkham Road and intending to access Don Noun will need to turn right at the junction. Subsequently, they must make a U-turn at a designated point in front of Manthilerd Chaleunyon Shop to proceed to their destination.
Motorists coming from the Dongdok traffic lights and heading toward SEA Games Village or Nong Viengkham will also face changes in their route. They will be directed to perform a U-turn at a specific location in front of Sokthavy Shop in the Don Noun area. These measures aim to streamline traffic flow and reduce congestion at this critical intersection.
