Vietnam and Laos Strengthen Partnership in Political Training


Hanoi: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duy Bac, Standing Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA), recently met with Bounleua Phandanouvong, the Acting Chairman of the Commission for External Relations of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee, to discuss the enhancement of cooperation in cadre training between Vietnam and Laos.



According to Lao News Agency, Bac emphasized the strong collaboration between the HCMA and the Lao National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, along with other Lao agencies, in training scientific research staff for both countries. He proposed that Bounleua Phandanouvong continue supporting the academies and other Lao partners in fulfilling tasks assigned by the Vietnamese and Lao party leaders.



Bac highlighted that nearly 200 Lao doctoral candidates, master’s students, and undergraduates are currently studying and conducting research at the HCMA. He assured that the academy would keep innovating its programs and policies to provide favorable conditions for Lao students and researchers.



Bounleua Phandanouvong expressed gratitude for the HCMA’s longstanding support in assisting Lao officials and public servants with their political studies and research in Vietnam. He agreed on the necessity for continuous innovation in training programs and suggested maintaining regular dialogue to tailor curricula to Laos’s development needs.



He also expressed a desire for increased visits by Lao leaders, scholars, and lecturers to Vietnam for research and exchanges with their Vietnamese counterparts, including those at the HCMA. He affirmed his commitment to strengthening the capacity of Lao officials and civil servants, thereby enhancing the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two nations.



During the visit, Bounleua Phandanouvong engaged in a dialogue about Vietnam-Laos relations with the academy’s staff, lecturers, and students.
