Vietnamese and Lao Women’s Unions Strengthen Cross-Border Collaboration.


KPL/VNA: The Women’s Union of Dien Bien, a northwestern border province in Vietnam, hosted a significant conference attended by representatives from the Lao provinces of Phongsaly, Oudomxay, and Luang Prabang. The meeting focused on assessing achievements, identifying challenges, and sharing lessons learned in national development and women’s empowerment. Discussions also revolved around addressing obstacles to the organizations’ operations and reviewing the progress of their 2022-2024 cooperation agreement.

According to Lao News Agency, Do Thi Thu Thuy, Chairwoman of the Dien Bien Women’s Union, emphasized the importance of continued experience exchange among the four unions, advocating for equality, friendship, and cooperation. During the conference, the delegates agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding, outlining their key cooperative agenda. This includes joint activities aimed at promoting revolutionary tradition and reinforcing the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, as wel
l as between Dien Bien and the Lao localities.

The unions are committed to guiding their local chapters, particularly those in bordering districts and communes, to effectively implement the signed cooperation documents. Their collaborative efforts will also focus on increasing cultural exchange and sharing experiences. Additionally, leaders from Dien Bien and its Women’s Union took the opportunity to present gifts and livelihood aid to disadvantaged women from the three Lao provinces, further cementing their cross-border solidarity and support.
