Hanoi: Party and State leaders on March 23 sent congratulatory messages to newly elected key leaders of Laos following the first session of the 10th National Assembly of Laos.
According to Lao News Agency, Party General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan extended their congratulations to Thongloun Sisoulith, who has been elected as the State President of Laos, and to Sonexay Siphandone for becoming Prime Minister. They also congratulated Saysomphone Phomvihane on his election as National Assembly Chairman and Viengthong Siphandone on her appointment as Vice State President.
The Vietnamese leaders’ messages emphasized that these elections highlighted the trust and respect the Lao National Assembly and the Lao people have in their leaders’ abilities, reputation, and their contributions to the country’s revolutionary cause and socio-economic progress. They expressed confidence that the newly-elected leaders will guide Laos in successfully implementing the Resolution of the 12th LPRP National Congress and the 10th five-year socio-economic development plan for the 2026-2030 period. This vision includes a peaceful, independent, democratic, and prosperous Laos, with an enhanced standing in both regional and international spheres.
Additionally, the Vietnamese leaders noted the strong and ever-growing friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic alignment between Vietnam and Laos. This relationship has yielded tangible benefits for the citizens of both nations and has contributed to peace, stability, and development throughout the region.
The leaders reaffirmed the unique and priceless relationship between Vietnam and Laos, a bond carefully nurtured by successive generations of their leaders and people. They reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to collaborating closely with Lao leaders to further enhance bilateral ties, contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity.
On the same day, Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung sent a congratulatory message to Thongsavan Phomvihane on his appointment as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos. Trung expressed confidence in Phomvihane’s ability to implement a foreign policy centered on peace, independence, friendship, and development cooperation. He also anticipated further substantive and effective development in relations between the two countries, particularly between their foreign ministries.
