VNA to Enhance Support for KPL in Digital Media Era: PM.


Vientiane: The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) should continue to maintain a close and effective relationship with the Lao News Agency (KPL) and assist them in advancing within the digital media landscape, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone stated. This suggestion was made during a reception on November 20 in Vientiane, where a VNA delegation led by its General Director Vu Viet Trang is on a working visit from November 19-21.

According to Lao News Agency, General Director Vu Viet Trang reported to the Prime Minister on the cooperative relationship between the national news agencies of Vietnam and Laos. She highlighted the traditional and faithful ties that have been sustained both during past struggles and the current national development efforts. VNA and KPL have consistently supported each other in executing information and communication tasks, reinforcing their roles as national news agencies.

Currently, the two agencies are implementing a Professional Cooperation Agreement for the 2022-2025 period. This includ
es information exchange, professional support, sharing technical equipment and professional experiences, and coordinated communications, particularly on significant events and holidays of both countries, Trang explained.

Prime Minister Sonexay appreciated the effective and practical cooperative relationship between VNA and KPL, which has helped consolidate and disseminate information about the special relationship between Laos and Vietnam. On behalf of the Lao Government, he expressed gratitude to VNA for its comprehensive support to KPL, underscoring the close relationship between the two news agencies. This collaboration is pivotal in strengthening the friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of the two agencies in communicating policies, monitoring the implementation of Party and State guidelines, and countering misinformation. In particular, for 2025, he stressed the necessity for both agencies to effectivel
y disseminate information on important events and the special cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

Vu Viet Trang extended her gratitude to the Lao Government and the Prime Minister for their guidance on communication activities. She affirmed that VNA and KPL will continue to support each other for mutual development, aligning with the special relationship between the two countries.

Earlier, Vu Viet Trang also paid courtesy visits to Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Suonsavan Viyaketh and Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam, and held discussions with KPL General Director Vannasin Simmavong.
