Khammouane: Asia-Potash International has made a significant donation of 1.2 billion kip to support two major events in Khammouane Province. The donation is aimed at aiding the 80th anniversary commemorations of the Battle of Thakhek, which occurred on March 21, 1946, and the celebrations marking the designation of Hin Nam No National Park as Laos’ inaugural UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.
According to Lao News Agency, the funds were officially handed over by Yang Shuo, who serves as the Chairman of Asia-Potash International (China) and the CEO of Asia-Potash International (Laos) Co., Ltd. The donation was received by Xaysana Khoutphouthone, the Governor of Khammouane Province. Provincial authorities have expressed their gratitude for the contribution, highlighting its importance in alleviating government budget constraints while ensuring the successful organization of these significant events.
Officials further acknowledged Asia-Potash International as a vital partner in the development of Khammouane. They cited the company’s consistent tax contributions and corporate social responsibility activities as pivotal to the province’s socio-economic growth. During the donation ceremony, Governor Xaysana awarded an official certificate of commendation to Yang Shuo and his delegation, recognizing their valuable support.
