Vientiane: The meeting was chaired by Minister of Agriculture and Environment Linkham Douangsavanh and attended by officials from central and provincial agriculture authorities, representatives of the rubber association, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders, both in person and online.
According to Lao News Agency, the decree sets out principles and regulations for managing, monitoring, and inspecting rubber production and business activities nationwide to ensure greater efficiency and sustainability in the sector. Authorities emphasized that the policy aims to improve rubber quality, industry standards, and farmers’ livelihoods while promoting environmental protection, expanding forest coverage, and supporting green socio-economic development.
The decree is also designed to align Laos’ rubber industry with regional and international standards. During the meeting, Minister Linkham instructed the Department of Forestry and provincial agriculture authorities to intensify dissemination of the decree. This includes encouraging the formation of rubber production groups and cooperatives, and ensuring that rubber farmers register their plantations in accordance with the law.
Minister Linkham further called for stricter monitoring and enforcement of regulations to ensure the effective implementation of the decree.
