Beijing: A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson stated on Monday that the United States should earnestly heed the voice of reason and offer an open, fair, just, and non-discriminatory business environment for market entities from other countries.
According to Lao News Agency, TikTok has resumed services in the United States, attributing the development to efforts by President-elect Donald Trump. Trump reportedly expressed a desire to negotiate a deal that would see the United States holding a 50 percent ownership stake in a joint venture.
In response to related inquiries, spokesperson Mao Ning addressed a press briefing, noting that TikTok has operated within the United States for several years, gaining significant popularity among American users. Mao highlighted TikTok’s positive influence on U.S. employment and consumer spending.
Mao emphasized that decisions regarding business operations and acquisitions should be made independently by companies, adhering to market principles. She noted that if Chinese companies are involved, compliance with China’s laws and regulations is necessary.
Addressing Elon Musk’s recent comments on the operation of TikTok and social media platform X, Mao remarked that the Chinese government manages the internet in accordance with established laws. She invited global internet companies to conduct operations in China, provided they adhere to China’s laws and regulations and offer safe and reliable products and services.
