President Thongloun Sisoulith Delivers New Year Message Emphasizing Unity and Progress


VIENTIANE: President Thongloun Sisoulith has extended New Year greetings to Lao citizens, emphasizing unity and resilience amid the challenges faced in 2024. The message, directed to Lao people of all ethnicities and foreign friends in Laos, underscores the country’s achievements and future aspirations.

According to Lao News Agency, President Thongloun expressed his best wishes on behalf of the Party, the State, and himself to all Lao people, both domestically and abroad. The President also addressed foreign nationals residing and working in Laos, as well as leaders and citizens of friendly countries. He acknowledged the collective resilience and unity that enabled Laos to navigate obstacles and successfully implement the 11th Party Congress resolution and the 9th Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan, ensuring political stability, social harmony, and economic progress.

President Thongloun highlighted the successful chairmanship of ASEAN in 2024 as a significant milestone, reflecting the countr
y’s growing international stature. He expressed gratitude to Lao citizens and international partners for their cooperation and support, which were key in overcoming challenges and achieving these accomplishments.

Looking ahead to 2025, the President emphasized its importance as Laos approaches the final phase of implementing the current Party Congress resolutions and the National Socio-Economic Development Plan. He called on Party members, government officials, armed forces, and the general public to unite and work with determination to achieve national goals.

“As we commemorate significant milestones in our nation’s history, let us remain steadfast in our collective efforts to build a strong, independent, and prosperous Laos,” the President stated. He concluded his address with wishes for peace, happiness, and prosperity for all Lao people in the coming year, setting a hopeful tone for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
