Seoul: The science ministry announced it has designated 10 technologies poised to transform the bio industry over the next decade. These groundbreaking technologies were revealed as a part of the ministry’s strategic plan to advance the country’s position in the global bio sector.
According to Lao News Agency, the identified technologies include human immunome, multi-cancer early detection, ribonucleic acid structurome, AI-designed gene editors, anti-aging antibodies, molecular glue, motile living biobots, digital artificial organs, bio foundation model, and health care digital twin. These innovations are expected to shift the current paradigm of bio research from traditional repetitive experiments and observations to AI-based prediction and inference.
The science ministry highlighted the potential applications of these technologies across various industries such as medical, space, and manufacturing within the next five to ten years. This strategic move is anticipated to significantly impact these sectors by introducing cutting-edge solutions and efficiencies.
Hwang Pan-sik, head of the office of R and D policy at the science ministry, emphasized the ministry’s commitment to developing these promising technologies. He outlined plans to establish a robust research and development infrastructure aimed at positioning the country as a leader in the advanced biology industry.
