Dong Hoi: The Vietnam Border Guard High Command, in collaboration with its Lao counterpart, organized a seminar and exchange program for their young officers in Dong Hoi city, Vietnam’s central province of Quang Binh.
According to Lao News Agency, Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hai, Deputy Political Commissar of the Vietnam Border Guard High Command, emphasized the crucial role young officers from both countries play in maintaining and strengthening the traditional friendship and unique solidarity between Vietnam and Laos. This event underscores the trust and support of the leadership from both nations, offering young officers the chance to interact, share experiences, and reinforce historical ties between the two forces.
Colonel Hai expressed confidence in the young border guard officers, highlighting their ambition, innovation, and strong sense of international solidarity, which he believes will continue to actively enhance the Vietnam-Laos relationship. During the seminar, young officers from both countries discussed the progress achieved in their cooperation, focusing on the active exchange of intelligence on political security and social order along the border. They have ensured the thorough implementation of the Vietnam-Laos agreement on land border and border gate management regulations.
The two forces have collaborated closely to maintain security and order in border areas, bolstering crime prevention efforts and affirming their joint commitment to establishing a border characterized by peace, friendship, and development. As part of the exchange program held from March 20-21, legal education sessions were conducted for local border residents, and 40 scholarships were awarded to disadvantaged students in the border areas of Dan Hoa commune, Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province.
Additionally, the officers engaged in volleyball and badminton matches at Quang Binh University’s sports center and planted friendship trees at the training and mobility battalion of the Quang Binh Border Guard. From March 22-24, Vietnamese and Lao young border guard officers are scheduled to visit the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap and explore cultural and historical sites in the province.
