Can Tho: Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man received Vice President of the Lao NA Sommad Pholsena in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on January 21. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF) Executive Committee’s Meeting and the Francophone parliamentary cooperation forum focusing on sustainable agriculture, food security, and climate change.
According to Lao News Agency, Man expressed gratitude to the Lao NA and Sommad for leading the Lao delegation to attend the forum and the APF Executive Committee’s Meeting hosted by the Vietnamese legislature. He congratulated Laos on its recent achievements and expressed confidence in the country’s ability to overcome challenges and contribute to a prosperous international standing.
Sommad praised the forum’s theme amidst global challenges like food security and climate change, highlighting the importance of the Vietnamese NA Chairman’s speech delivered at the opening session. Man reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening its friendship with Laos and proposed prioritizing cooperation, monitoring agreements, and maintaining regular exchanges at all levels.
On this occasion, Man acknowledged the support of Lao authorities for Vietnamese businesses and citizens in Laos. Sommad agreed with Man’s proposals and promised to ensure effective cooperation, particularly in Vietnam’s agricultural investments in Laos. He thanked Vietnam for its support and emphasized the unique solidarity and cooperation between the two nations.
